10 Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy TV Show Theme Songs

Okay, this was really hard to narrow down, yo! There’s like 10 more I wanted to add, but you know top ten list and all. So don’t get mad if I missed your favorite…I probably already feel bad about leaving it off the list.

Batman

I don’t care what anyone says…this is an earworm I never grow tired of. Nananana nananana nanananana. BATMAN!

Firefly

Burn the land and boil the sea/You can’t take the sky from me. Throat lump. Why was this show canceled again?

Star Trek

From William’s Shatner’s spoken word intro to the eerie soprano caterwauling, this theme song has so much good stuff it’s ridiculous.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Hearing this theme song every week back in the day, definitely put me in the mood for some ass kicking!

True Blood

This song is hot. Like Eric Northman hot. Kick yourself to the curb Team Bill! I don’t wanna hear it!

Dark Angel

I always have to give props to a theme song that kicks it old school. Another show that should’ve lasted longer.

Wonder Woman

This one goes out to all the ladies who wanna wear satin tights and still fight for their rights. If you didn’t spin around in your room wearing your Wonder Woman underoos while these opening credits played…wait, I’m not the only one who did that, right?

X Files

Awww man.  Now I totally miss Mulder and Scully. Looks like I’ll be watching old episodes on Netflix for the next eight hours.

Game Of Thrones

Hearing this theme makes me positively giddy. I mean for real, season three can not get here soon enough for me. Maybe I’ll watch season one again while I wait. Confession: I miss Ned Stark every day.

Doctor Who

This theme was actually one of the first electronic signature tunes in television history. Don’t you love it? It is so awesomely triptastic. You know you’re gonna watch this 11 minute video of Doctor Who Theme songs. Don’t lie.

  1. I would replace Dark Angel with Warehouse 13 and this is my top ten actually. But if it could be longer, I’d add Carnivale and Walking Dead.
