Help The People & Animals of Colorado

”This is a firestorm of epic proportions,” said Colorado Springs Fire Chief Richard Brown.

Colorado, Utah and Montana are aflame at the moment – with several wildfires burning out of control. 62,000 acres of dry timber have burned since Saturday, and the military is dispatching at least 25 more helicopters in the next few moments to fight the burning brush.

At last count, 32,000 people have been displaced from their homes, many leaving with little time to gather personal belongings.  The American Red Cross is providing critical help through workers and shelters.  Currently, the Red Cross is serving meals and snacks, as well as relief items.

At GeekNation, part of our team is from Colorado, and we want to support the disaster relief in any way that we can.

HOW PEOPLE CAN HELP Those who want to help can make a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief by visiting www.redcross.org or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. People can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions may also be sent to local American Red Cross chapters or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.

You can also make a donation to the Humane Society to help the many homeless and displaced animals who are going to need our help in the coming days, weeks and months.
