Indie Game: The Movie!
Indie Game: The Movie looks at the underdogs of the video game industry, the “small time” independent game developers who sacrifice themselves in every way – their time, their talents, and whatever money they have – in order to turns their dreams into video game reality. This Sundance award-winning film and South by Southwest film festival selection follows the makers of the games Braid, Fez, and Super Meat Boy through their very real, truly human laughter and pain.
Do they retreat into game creation as a way to escape from other people or as their own way of reaching others? As one of the featured game developers puts it, “My whole career has been me trying to find new ways to communicate with people because I desperately want to communicate with people but I don’t want the messy interaction of having to make friends and talk to people, because I probably don’t like ‘em.” Explore their hopes, frustrations, and motivations with them in this attention-seizing documentary.
What do you think drives them?
