New Zombieland TV Series Coming to Amazon?
A few weeks back Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer bummed out fans everywhere by confirming that a Zombieland sequel would “likely never happen”? Well, cry tears into your beers no more, darlings; a TV series based on the 2009 hit film is being developed by online retail and streaming gurus Amazon.com!
This is not a drill.
Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock
Centering around the film’s four main characters, Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock (as made famous by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abagail Breslin, respectively), Zombieland the series will be the first show out the gate as Amazon follows other companies like Hulu into the original programming arena with their in-house production company, Amazon Studios.
Here’s a refresher (in case you need it)!
Zombieland film producer Gavin Polone is keeping watch over the new 30-minute series for Amazon’s Instant Streaming service, as this is the second shot to successfully translate the film’s storyline to TV (FOX gave it a go but couldn’t quite get it to work past the pilot).
One thing I AM curious about: now that Twinkies are dead, I wonder how they’re gonna handle Tallahassee’s obsession with them? Will they just never talk about Rule #32? As Rule #32 is the most quoted rule from the film, I would HOPE they’d continue to use it! If they have to change to something like Ne-Mo’s Cake Squares, I’d go with the chocolate cake or red velvet varieties; sooooo tasty.
No word on casting yet but when I know, YOU’LL KNOW!
Until then, enjoy one of my fave scenes a.k.a. “The last box of Twinkies”!
Let’s hope the show rocks and brings Twinkies back from the dead. Ha, “back from the dead”…GET IT?!
Hopefully we’ll hear more soon!
