  1. Oh, movie podcasts? Can I recommend the spanish “zombie” film REC. .. holy shit you just said that!

    • Great minds, CJ… great minds. :) I’m also recommending Tesis, a 1996 film by Alejandro Amenabar (from The Others). It’s one of my favorites; I must have seen it 15 times and it still unnerves me. If you are looking also for foreign vs. american versions of movies, I would suggest checking out Infernal Affairs (Hong Kong) vs The Departed, Abre los Ojos (Spain) vs Vanilla Sky, and Ringu (Japan) vs The Ring,

    • Yep. Huge fan of the originals, not so much the remakes. If you have trouble finding some of them, hit me up. i can help you with that :)

  2. Hey I’m so glad to hear that your going to continue your ‘casts even while Trueblood isn’t on air. I’m a new listener but a trubbie from the beginning. The shows you said you’d ‘cast about sound good. If your looking for a movie to watch I’ve just seen a few good ones. Vamps–Stakeland , Zombies– Exit Humanity and on you tube there is a great zombie webisode series called “The Great Dying” ITs probably the best onloine series I’ve ever seen, Its dark n bleak but beautiful in it’s way. Great final show !!

    • Glad you’ll be sticking around. I will check out your suggestions later today and add to my queue. I don’t know your name but thanks Bytewrite

  3. You should see “Rec” It’s very similar to “Quarantine” but the part two’s of each are totally different but i’d say both are worth a watch for fans of the genre. Rec 3 is available on cable on demand. Parts one and two are on Crackle i believe and maybe netflix and hulu. I know i didn’t use my real name but i am a real person :)

  4. About the Bloodcast, first things first… another lovely episode ladies. I know I speak from all of us when I say thanks for sharing this with us. Second, it seems I enjoyed the episode more than you two did, and in general, the season much more than I did S4. Aside from Russell’s quickie death, Xenophobic!Jason and Stupid Bill, the episode had me pumping my fists in the air repeatedly. Now I’m very excited for next season.

About the name the Lilith, I bet Crix is right when she says that it was a little from column A and column B, but I don’t quite catch the name of the author she makes reference to. Can you write it down for me?

I haven’t really liked Bill since Season Three, when I started noticing that there was a huge gap between what he preached and what he practiced, but I’ve noticed that there are a lot of people in the Interwebs blaming his actions on what Pam called “nest behavior on steroids”. But I don’t think that’s it. Look at Nora: she was a Sanguinista for decades, Salome’s lover/adopted child, a true believer, willing to be martyred for the cause. She also drank from Lilith’s blood, and was fully aware of the raw power that blood held. And yet, she was able to break free of Salome/Lilith’s influence. So why not Bill? My opinion: he loves the power and attention that come from it. Thru the past seasons we’ve been reminded that Bill is only 200+ years old – a mere teenager in vampire years – and he’s constantly been pushed around by others more powerful than himself. Even his position as King came from betraying Sophie Anne; it was never truly earned. So when “god” herself tells you she has chosen you to be her prophet, you feel special, you feel unique, you feel powerful, and that is more intoxicating than any drug or ideology can make you feel. “Power tends to corrupt, and absolutely power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” Sookie and Eric never stood a chance.

The other point (and last, I promise) I want to touch upon is Tara’s sexuality. I think it was Crix that said that the Tara situation was that “yeah, guys screwed me over” and “all of a sudden, she’s banging chicks”. But IMHO, the show never really stated that the reason Tara was now bisexual was because of what happened with Franklin, and what seems “sudden” for us as viewers (since we experienced that time thru Sookie’s eyes) was actually a year in the life of Tara. A lot can happen in a year. We were just told that Tara had traveled for a few months before settling in New Orleans, eventually hooking up with Naomi. Maybe Naomi developed the attraction first, and pursued Tara, and maybe Tara realized, “hey, this isn’t bad at all”, and just went for it. There’s an expression in Spanish that says, “Como saber si eres pez o iguana, si no pruebas ni tierra ni agua”, which roughly translates to “how would you know if you are a fish or an iguana, if you don’t taste the earth or the water.” There’s always a first time for everything you do/think/feel, and maybe what Tara needed was that first taste to help her discover the full spectrum of her sexuality. Now, I don’t know if Tara/Pam are meant to be together forever, but I’ve been a big fan of their storyline this season and I’m quite fond about the effect each character has had on the other one. Unless the writers go all Hoyt/Jessica on them in the future, I don’t think Tara would ever hurt Pam.

PS. One more thing before I go (last one, I promise!)… American Horror Story is returning in October. Have you two considered doing a podcast for it? Seems right up the show’s alley.

PPS. I bet someone is regretting lifting the restrictions on the comment’s section :)

    • Love it! You think about the show as much as we do. We have thought about American Horror Story and are big fans but not sure if Clare Kramer is going to cover it so we just don’t want to double cover something on GeekNation but if Clare doesn’t talk about it on 5×5 then we will FOR SURE cover on BloodCast.

  5. Yeah Stakeland was great. A very different take on a vampire movie. Almost seemed more like a zombie movie to me and was definitely told in the same vein as McCarthy’s THE ROAD. Isn’t Rec similar to Quarantine because Quarantine was the American remake? I’ve actually never seen either. Although I hear Rec 3 is batshit crazy….but not in a bad way.

  6. I think that Luna is gonna die first episode next season too!!!

  7. Tara and Pam is my least favorite new story line and I will leave it at that.

  8. Now you guys are talking about the blood spattered walls at the Authority. I totally thought it looked like the Wonderland house.

  9. Oh ps – watch the season finale again on hbogo or at least watch the bonus footage at the very end. Warlow is mentioned. It’s after the credits.
    \

  10. Love all the new Geeknation features. Now I can comment as long as I want.

  11. Great season ladies. Thank you for doing this and getting me so excited about True Blood. It’s nice to have a place to vent my thoughts and feel heard to what ever degree that may be. One of my favorite parts of last nights episode was the Trexan for V-juice. And yeah – after Bill hit Jessica there was no coming back. He is evil to the core.

  12. I have been rewatching past seasons and I can’t help but think that somehow Sookie is going to be turned into a Vampire. Possibly to battle warlow or banish Billith. Although Lillith herself never caused destruction personally. She used people to do it for her. So not sure how dangerous billith will be. He seems sort of like a genie in a bottle – he himself can’t but with another person he probably will be able to do mass amounts of damage. Season 3 and 4 are hands down my faves. But it took a lot of rewatching to come to that.

  13. or here is another thought – there was so little LaFayette last season perhaps he is going to come and exorcise bill with his own demon.
